Effervescent salt tablet

Palatability is everything

An electrolyte solution won’t do any good if the flavour is repellent, making the animals refuse ingestion.

Hydroliin is isotonic

In contrast to hypertonic solutions, with high glucose content, Hydroliin doesn’t decreases the abomasal emptying rate.

Hydroliin has a uniquely high SID value

Due to its high Na content combined with a very low CL content.

Effervescent salt tablet

Dietetic complementary feed for calves and piglets
– Restores fluid and salt balance

Hydroliin tablets are effervescent tablets that quickly dissolves in water and contains salts and easily absorbable carbohydrates. Restores the fluid and salt balance in calves and piglets that have become dehydrated. Willingly ingested by the animals, thanks to the pleasant flavour.

Used when risk of dehydration og digestive disorders and in periods with scouring.

Digestive disorder and diarrhea: 1 tablet in 1 litre lukewarm water (37°C) for a litter of piglets (9-12 piglets). Can also be used for piglets when milk production from the sow is insufficient (around day 10–14).

Hydroliin should be fed, separately from the milk feeding.

Digestive disorders: 1 tablet in 1 litre lukewarm water once a day, max. 7 days.
First sign of diarrhea: 2 tablets in 2 litres lukewarm water (37°C) once a day, max. 7 days.
Diarrhea: 2 tablets in 2 litres lukewarm water (37°C) twice a day for 2 days.
It is advisable to consult a vet before use and before extending the period of use.

Throughout the years, thousands of farm animals has proven the efficiency of Hydroliin. It is a valued tool for keeping the animals healthy and strong through stressful situations and periods with scouring. The easy handling, safe dosing and rapid effect, makes Hydroliin a very popular and well-known rehydration product.

– Palatability is everything, and Hydroliin pays special attention to this fact. An electrolyte solution won’t do any good if the flavour is repellent, making the animals refuse ingestion. Vanilla aroma, sodium bicarbonate and isotonic formulation, are all components that makes Hydroliin appealing to animals. It encourages them to increase the voluntary intake and speed up the rehydration process.

– Hydroliin is isotonic and in contrast to hypertonic solutions, with high glucose content, Hydroliin doesn’t decreases the abomasal emptying rate1). A slow abomasal emptying rate are associated with slower resuscitation of dehydrated calves and an increased risk of abomasitis (bloating)2)3). With the isotonic formulated Hydroliin, these health risks are minimized.

– Hydroliin has a uniquely high SID value, due to its high Na content combined with a very low CL content. This makes Hydroliin very efficient in preventing and treating metabolic acidosis caused by dehydration. Furthermore recent studies has shown evidence that oral electrolyte solutions with high SID values, are more effective in correcting dehydration, has a better recovery rate for treated calves, and is linked to lower calf mortality4)5).

– In Hydroliin, lactose are chosen as carbohydrate source, since higher amount of glucose, though more easily absorbed, can have negative effect on the energy balance. A rapid increase in plasma glucose can in young calves, trigger an excessive release of insulin, in the end leading to a lower plasma glucose level as before treatment6). Besides that, lactose helps keep the lactose splitting enzymatic process in the gut running, which are crucial for utilizing a milk based diet.

– Hydroliin contains a very efficient probiotic bacteria strain (Enterococcus Faecium NICMB 11181) which are known for promoting gut health. The bacteria competes with the pathogens for nutrition and attachment sites, while creating a hostile environment for the pathogens and thereby helping the host to recover.
